While people were busy paying last respect to movie star Stephen Kanumba, members of Neema Gospel Choir was performing at their best.
The late Kanumba happened to be one of the group’s members during his lifetime besides his movie starring profession.
The eulogies praised Kanumba for his talent, creativity and humbleness. The group also sung by the graveside, they sung songs that gave hope and inspiration.
People were soothed by soulful melodies of the choir as others were in somber mood, others crying in vain, others just kept quiet such that moods were in varied dimensions.
People from all walks of life thronged the Leaders Club yesterday to pay their last respects to fallen star Kanumba who died on the dawn of Saturday in Dar es Salaam.
According to Kinondoni Region Police Commander Charles Kenyela the late Kanumba’s girl friend Elizabeth Michael, alias Lulu, is being held to assist investigations leading to the deep shocking sudden death.
Kanumba was one of the popular local film stars who had acted many local and international films.
Hence, it was not surprising that, at his funeral, it was not only family and friends who wept openly but also members of the public who had known the cerebrated actor.
Movie actors were not alone to give Kanumba a rousing send off in the most memorable way. Besides the Government presence, also in attendance were football administrators, players and other sports personalities, artists and musicians.
