The Government in any society should be of the people and for the people. Any moment when these principals are violated, A nation is no longer a state but a lawless society. People’s will must be respected for the government to remain relevant, legitimate and functional. Desperate Politicians yearning for attention MUST stop releasing their CHEAP public statements fueling the passion among the citizens. The country is burning. Statements are not needed. What people need is ACTION.
1. The government MUST announce with immediate effect the secession of Mtwara-Dar PIPELINE activities. Otherwise the government will not be representative of the people that simply DON’T want the natural gas to be piped into Kinyerezi
2. The government must enter into an HONEST dialogue on the alternative to the PIPELINE; and that means addressing the people’s grievances of processing gas locally, creating jobs, as well as improving social services and amenities in surrounding communities.
3. The Government MUST announce immediate, swift and thorough investigation of Corrupt practices involving public officials that may have FRAUDULENTLY inflated the cost of the pipeline construction from $600million to $1.2 Billion. This should not spare other NATION (s) and their nationals that might have been involved
Failure to do so will be a clear indication that the government has lost its legitimacy and is no longer for the people but for SPECIAL interest groups that have held Tanzania citizens hostage for so long.
