THE 19YRS OLD MILEY CYRUS IS ENGAGED TO AUSTRALIAN BOYFRIEND LIAM HEMSWORTH.

By the CNN Wire Staff - Miley Cyrus is engaged to her off-and-on boyfriend of three years, "The Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth, a representative for Hemsworth said on Wednesday.

"I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam," the 19-year-old Cyrus told People magazine.

The two met when they co-starred in "The Last Song" in 2009. They broke up the next year, then reunited less than a year later.

Hemsworth, 22, proposed on May 31 with a 3.5-carat diamond in 18-karat gold with carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern, according to Neil Lane Jewelry in Los Angeles. The center stone dates back to the late 19th century, the store said.

The couple sparked engagement rumors in March after Cyrus was seen wearing a diamond ring on her finger at an Arizona event, but representatives for both denied it.

In February, Hemsworth told Details magazine he was smitten with Cyrus.

"She makes me really happy," he said. "When you start (filming), you want to be professional, but when you're filming those scenes with someone and pretending to love them, you're not human if you don't feel something."

Meanwhile, Cyrus expressed gratitude to her supporters Wednesday on Twitter. "thank you for all the love today :)" she tweeted. "i'm happy to share this news with you all. I feel like all my dreams are coming true."

Cyrus is working on a new album, People reported, and Hemsworth is filming "Empire State" in New Orleans. He will also shoot a movie with Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman, called "Paranoia," before working on the next "Hunger Games" installment.

"All I ever hoped for as a daddy was to see my kids reach their dreams," tweeted her father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. "To find happiness...peace of mind...and someday know...true love."

Cyrus catapulted to international fame after starring in the "Hannah Montana" television series on the Disney Channel. She has also launched a recording career, selling out venues worldwide, and has appeared in several movies.

Born Destiny Hope Cyrus, she earned the nickname "Smiley" as a child, which was shortened to Miley. In 2008, she legally changed her name to Miley Ray Cyrus.

Cyrus has been the subject of controversy. At 15, she apologized after Vanity Fair magazine published provocative photos of her, saying she was "so embarrassed." At 18, she acknowledged that smoking a bong filled with the herb salvia was "a bad decision" after a video surfaced. And last year, she dealt with fallout after joking that she was a "stoner."

Hemsworth, a native of Melbourne, Australia, started acting in high school, according to an Internet Movie Database biography, and followed his brothers Chris and Luke into show business. He was cast last year in "The Hunger Games," which brought him international fame.

Alexander Kinyua, Maryland Man Who Allegedly Ate Kujoe Agyei-Kodie, First Ranted On Facebook

JOPPATOWNE, Maryland (AP) — The Kenyan college student suspected of killing and eating parts of a man staying at his home ranted months ago about "mass human sacrifices" on Facebook, one of several details that emerged Friday in the second gruesome case of alleged cannibalism in the U.S. in a week.

Authorities say Alex Kinyua, 21, admitted using a knife to kill and carve up Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, 37, before eating his heart and parts of his brain. The older man had been staying with Kinyua's family for about six weeks at their townhouse in the Baltimore suburb of Joppatowne.

Both the victim and his alleged killer had attended nearby Morgan State University, a historically black university in Baltimore. Kinyua had just finished his junior year, and Agyei-Kodie was a graduate student who last attended classes in 2008. Both men were also originally from Africa; Kinyua was 
from Kenya and Agyei-Kodie from Ghana.

Investigators haven't given a possible motive in the slaying. In a separate case on May 19, police said Kinyua beat a man with a baseball bat on Morgan State's campus, fracturing his skull and making him lose sight in one eye. Kinyua was free on $220,000 bail in that case. He is now being held without bond on a murder charge.

In February, Kinyua posted a question on Facebook, asking fellow students at historically black colleges and universities if they were "strong enough to endure ritual HBCU mass human sacrifices around the country and still be able to function as human beings?"

He referred to the tragic shootings at Virginia Tech and "other past university killings around the country" and warned "ethnic cleansing is the policy, strategy and tactics that will affect you, directly or indirectly in the coming months."

Kinyua wrote on his page that he attended Morgan State and was a member of an ROTC-affiliated military honor society at the university, the National Society of Pershing Rifles. ROTC is a college-based U.S. military program that allows students to be commissioned as officers when they graduate. The page was linked to an Internet radio show called Warrior Syndicate Radio, which displayed a photo of Kinyua in green-and-white facepaint.

Lt. Col. James Lewis, a professor of military science at Morgan State and the head of the ROTC program, said Friday that Kinyua participated in ROTC for 2½ years but was "disenrolled" in January. He could not say why.

James Holt, a friend of the victim for about 10 years, told The Associated Press that Agyei-Kodie had met Antony Kinyua, the father of his alleged killer, while pursuing a doctoral degree. Antony Kinyua is a physics lecturer at Morgan State.

A spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Agyei-Kodi came to the United States on a student visa but was not in compliance with the visa's terms. He was ordered removed from the country by an immigration judge in 2010 and was under ICE's supervision pending removal to Ghana. The agency had been waiting for documents from Ghana before returning him to the country.

Holt said the Kinyua family took in Agyei-Kodi when he hadn't worked for three years and was trying to re-establish his life.

" ... Dr. Kinyua was extremely kind in taking Kujoe into his house while Kujoe got his feet back under him." Holt said. "And I think Kujoe was on his way to re-establishing his educational status and completing his Ph.D. when this happened."

Authorities went to the Kinyua home Tuesday after Kinyua's brother found what he thought were human remains in two metal tins in the family's basement. Investigators found what they believe are Agyei-Kodie's head and hands. More remains were found outside a church about a mile (1.6 kilometer) away.

A woman who answered the door at the family's townhouse Friday morning said the family would not be commenting.

The Maryland attack came a few days after another alleged instance of cannibalism in Miami where a man in Miami chewed away another man's face along a busy highway and wouldn't stop until an officer shot him to death. Witnesses say 31-year-old Rudy Eugene growled at the officer and continued to chew. The victim, identified as 65-year-old Ronald Poppo, a homeless man who lived under the causeway, was in critical condition and will be permanently disfigured.

Nigeria plane crash: Dana Air Flight Crashes in Lagos Killing at Least 163, Death Toll Rising

LAGOS, Nigeria (CNN) - Crews scoured the wreckage of an airliner Monday looking for data recorders to piece together what brought down a Dana Air flight in Lagos, killing all 153 people aboard and at least 10 on the ground.

The pilot of the doomed flight that crashed in a residential neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria, is an American, according to Oscar Wason, the airline's director of flight operations. The co-pilot is from India, while the engineer is from Indonesia, he said. Wason did not release their identities.

The rescue effort turned to the recovery of bodies in the West African nation's most populous city after the director of Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency said early Monday there were no survivors of the crash.

The death toll was likely to increase as crews searched through the rubble of a two-story residential building struck by the McDonnell Douglas MD-83 on Sunday.

It was unclear how many people were inside the building and on the street outside at the time of the crash, Mohammad Sani Sidi, the emergency management director, told CNN from the crash site.

The Dana Air flight from the Nigerian capital of Abuja crashed at 3:43 p.m. (10:43 a.m. ET) in the Lagos neighborhood of Iju Ishaga, just north of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, according to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

By daybreak, crews working through the night had recovered at least 80 bodies, including 10 believed to be residents, Sidi said.

Among the dead are six Chinese citizens who were on board the flight, the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria said Monday.

Rescue efforts were hampered by massive crowds that poured into the streets following the crash, making it difficult for crews and medical workers to get to the wreckage.

Police used batons to beat back onlookers to make way for rescue crews and ambulances, witnesses said.

"There were so many people, you had to push through people to walk," recalled Pearl Ezeokeke, who was at the scene.

Femi Green-Adebo, who lives a few blocks from the crash site, said he was home Sunday when he heard a "loud explosion" and ran outside with friends.

"We were trying to see if we could help others," he said. "It was so hot we couldn't get close because of the fire."

Green-Adebo said he saw charred bodies amid the wreckage.

The number of people in the street quickly swelled, and he said he saw police and ambulances trying to make their way through the crowd.

"I left because there were too many people. It was crowded," he said. "I was just thinking about the people, if there was anyone in there."

Video from the scene showed people clambering on the wreckage -- including parts of the fallen plane -- and working together to hold up what appeared to be a fire hose.

Nine hours after the plane crashed, Sidi said "crowd control (was a) big challenge." But by 1:30 a.m. Monday, the Nigerian official situation was under control and the greatest difficulty was sifting through the wreckage.

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan ordered an immediate investigation in to the crash, while declaring a three-day period of national mourning for victims of the crash.

A statement from his office noted that the incident came the same day that two church bombings in northern Nigeria killed at least 15 people and wounded 38 others, according to Red Cross spokesman Andronicus Adeyemo.

"President Jonathan assures air travelers in the country that every possible effort will be made to ensure that the right lessons are learned from the tragic loss of valuable lives in today's plane crash and that further measures will be put in place to boost aviation safety," the statement from Jonathan's office said.

Nigeria's deadliest air disaster came in July 1991, when all 261 on board a Nigerian Airways airliner died after its landing gear caught fire shortly after takeoff in Saudi Arabia en route to Nigeria, and the plane went down. About 225 people were killed in two crashes that occurred within two months of each other in late 2005.

On Saturday, a Boeing 727 cargo plane operated by Nigerian-based Allied Air from Lagos overshot the runway at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana, and hit a passenger bus, killing 10 people, officials said.

Lagos, with a population of more than 7.9 million people, is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. It is Nigeria's commercial hub.

Dana Air set up a 24-hour hotline to provide information about to the victims' family members.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of guests who were involved in the Dana Air mishap," the airline posted on its web site. "May the souls of the deceased rest in peace."

Dana Air, which is privately owned and based in Lagos, began operations in 2008.
